| Sean Welch began his musical career playing in various school bands, unfortunately he kept getting kicked out because he was basically crap. Armed with an A Level in Sociology and hazy prospects, he joined the Housemartins entourage as a roadie in 1985. After the split of the Housemartins, when Paul was looking for a bassist for the Beautiful South, it was recalled that Sean had been very adept on the guitar when soundchecking for the Housemartins and he was recruited.
