| Briana grew up in Northern Ireland, but left to study Creative Arts at Newcastle University aged 18. Whilst there, she joined up as a singer with a band called The Anthill Runaways. Go! Discs were considering signing the band in the late 80s, but instead chose to recommend Briana to Paul, who was struggling to find a female vocalist for The Beautiful South. It was decided she would fit the sound of the band, and she was recruited. She remained with the band until 1993, when she decided she had had enough of the laddish culture of the band, and was unhappy with the lyrics of some proposed new songs. |
| After leaving the band, Briana began writing then recording a solo albuml. After the release of 'Carry On Up The Charts', the record label decided to push forward the release date of the album in an attempt to cash in on its success. However, Briana felt she had not had enough time to finish her work properly, and she was proven right when the leading single stalled at No. 48 and the album, 'When My Arms Wrap You Round', failed to chart. After being dropped by her label, she returned to Ireland. She now lives in Dublin, and although film work and new music have been rumoured, nothing significant has surfaced as of yet. |
